My Local Drive Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-08-05
Product: My Local Drive (Mac client) and My Local Drive Server Setup (Linux)
Publisher / policy host: ai.ticktock.space
App page: https://ai.ticktock.space/apps/MyLocalDrive
Summary: My Local Drive does not sell personal data, does not run advertising trackers, and does not upload your drive contents to TickTock cloud storage.
Your files stay on the Linux PC you (or your organization) control. Credentials stay on your devices (Keychain / local config).
1. Who this policy covers
This Privacy Policy applies to:
- The My Local Drive macOS application
- The My Local Drive Server Setup Linux wizard and related server components (Samba share helpers and the local
localhdd-agent)
- The product pages and downloads hosted at ai.ticktock.space/apps/MyLocalDrive
It does not govern third-party operating systems (Apple macOS, Linux distributions), your home router, or other apps on your devices.
2. Apple platform expectations (macOS)
My Local Drive is designed to align with Apple’s expectations for privacy transparency on Mac, including:
- Clear disclosure of what data is stored and why
- No covert tracking or fingerprinting for advertising
- User control over credentials and network destinations you enter
- Use of system Keychain for passwords where supported
- Honest description of Local Network use (required to reach your own Linux server)
- Links to this Privacy Policy and Terms from the product website and in-app acceptance screen
If you distribute a notarized or App Store build, Apple’s standard review and privacy nutrition-label rules may also apply; this document is the customer-facing policy for those disclosures.
3. Data we do not collect
- We do not collect your file contents for analytics, training, advertising, or resale
- We do not require a TickTock account to use My Local Drive on your LAN
- We do not sell or rent personal information
- We do not use third-party ad SDKs in the Mac or Linux setup apps
- We do not ask for Apple ID passwords
4. Data processed on your devices (local)
4.1 On the Mac (My Local Drive.app)
- Connection settings you enter: server address, agent port, share name, username (stored in app preferences)
- SMB password and similar secrets: stored in the macOS Keychain when possible
- Agent token: stored locally so Create-user requests can authenticate to your Linux agent
- Legal acceptance: timestamp / flag that you accepted Terms & Privacy
- Preferences: e.g. auto-connect at login, selected share
- Transfer logs (if enabled by the app): local log files under your user Library for troubleshooting copies you initiate
- Files you copy: read from locations you choose and written to the mounted private volume — not uploaded to TickTock servers
4.2 On the Linux PC (Server Setup / Samba / agent)
- Unix / Samba usernames and password hashes managed by the OS and Samba
- Private home folders under the My Local Drive disk for each user
- Agent configuration (port, token) in local system files such as under
/etc/localhdd/
- Connection card file generated for you to configure the Mac app — treat as confidential; do not publish
5. Network activity
- Local network / LAN: The Mac app connects to the Linux IP address you provide for SMB (file sharing) and the My Local Drive agent (user creation / disk info). This is necessary for the product to work.
- ai.ticktock.space: Used for optional downloads, this Privacy Policy, Terms, and product documentation. Visiting those pages may produce standard web server logs (see §6).
- The app does not phone home with your drive inventory or file listings to TickTock for marketing.
6. Website / download hosting (ai.ticktock.space)
When you visit the My Local Drive product page or download installers:
- Standard web logs may include IP address, user-agent, timestamp, and requested URL (for security, abuse prevention, and rough download counts)
- We do not use those logs to build advertising profiles of your personal files
- Do not upload screenshots or docs that contain your private LAN addresses, Wi‑Fi names, router credentials, or passwords
7. Permissions & system access (Mac)
- Local Network: to discover/reach your Linux server
- Files and folders / volume mounts: to mount SMB and transfer files you initiate
- Keychain: to store SMB credentials securely
- Login item / Launch Agent (optional): only if you enable auto-connect
macOS may show system permission prompts. Declining Local Network or related prompts can prevent mounting.
8. Children
My Local Drive is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). Do not provide personal information of children through the product.
9. Data retention & deletion
- Mac: Remove the app, clear its preferences, and delete Keychain entries for My Local Drive to remove local settings/credentials. Eject/unmount the share to stop access.
- Linux: Deleting a Samba/Unix user and their home folder removes that user’s private files from the My Local Drive disk (admin action). Uninstalling services does not automatically wipe disk contents unless you format the disk.
- Website logs: retained only as needed for operations and security, then rotated/deleted per host practice.
10. Security
We design the product so credentials are stored with OS facilities (Keychain / file modes) and so each SMB user only sees their private home. You are responsible for:
- Choosing strong passwords
- Keeping the agent token and connection card private
- Securing your LAN / firewall
- Physical access to the Linux PC and disks
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
11. Third parties
Apple, your Linux distribution, Samba, and your network equipment process data under their own policies when you use their software/hardware. My Local Drive does not control those policies.
12. International users
Processing occurs on devices and networks you choose. If you access ai.ticktock.space, hosting infrastructure may be in the operator’s region.
13. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. The effective date above will change. Continued use after an in-app or website notice of material changes constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
14. Contact
Privacy questions related to My Local Drive: use the contact methods published on ai.ticktock.space and reference product My Local Drive.
